PV CYCLE mandates WEEE-scheme Recyclia to execute its PV WEEE services in Spain
Madrid, December 2, 2013 – With the announcement to entrust the leading WEEE-scheme Recyclia with the execution of PV CYCLE’s take-back and recycling scheme in Spain, the Spanish country representation now took up its operational activities.
Fundacion PV CYCLE España, founded in summer 2013, will serve as the first point of contact for requests from the Spanish PV market, including module owners, Producers and network partners. Subcontracting the execution of all administrative and business development activities to Recyclia will better enable PV CYCLE to further expand its existing take-back and collection network in Spain, develop new partnerships and proactively contribute to national, regional and local developments.
With its unmatched position in the PV waste sector, PV CYCLE España has also applied for an accreditation to operate Government-approved WEEE services for Spain-based PV manufacturers and importers.
“PV CYCLE is the clear leader in its industry and has proven its unique capability to serve the PV industry with cost-effective and sustainable take-back and recycling services”, explained Jan Clyncke, Managing Director at PV CYCLE. “Bringing another expert such as Recyclia on board of our partnership network will help us in our hard work to offer the PV industry a smooth transition from a voluntary to a WEEE-regulated PV waste environment”.
With the creation of Fundacion PV CYLCE España, the pan-European take-back and recycling scheme has now country offices in a large number of Europe’s most relevant PV waste markets, including Italy and Germany. To date, more than 7,600 tonnes of discarded PV modules have been collected and treated within the PV CYCLE network, of which some 800 tonnes in Spain alone.
